Facebook Home announced together with the HTC First

Facebook has announced what I believe is an effort to bring their very own launcher to Android. Well, that is how I look at it, Facebook Home, a launcher based on people and not on apps, Facebook said. Of course, it being a launcher, your Android device will still be a smartphone but will look different. The application will first be seen in the HTC First, which comes with Facebook Home pre-installed. From messaging, chats, contacts, app launcher, etc, Facebook Home, I believe, is where the social Networking giant try to earn, again, with ads. Ads might not yet be seen in the launcher yet, but I am pretty sure it will come. I just hope no ads will pop up anywhere in the app, though. The application will be available to these devices when it will be available in the Play Store in April 12, the HTC First, HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, and the Galaxy Note II. Other devices will be able to download Facebook Home "in the coming months".

Facebook improves how you view photos in profiles

Facebook announced that they, the largest social networking site, has improved the way you view photos in profiles. According to Facebook, this new improvement should make your stalking no viewing of photos more enjoyable. Photos albums in profile will now show bigger photos and in a mosaic kind of style, probably just bringing how the news feeds would show you uploaded photos. Whatever the reason, I like it. This feature has not yet arrived on my Facebook, they are still rolling it out to their almost a billion users.

Facebook announces their own app store - The Facebook App Center

How many app stores do you know off? We have Apple's App Store, Android's Google Play, Windows Phone's Windows Phone Marketplace, and a lot more out there like Amazon's own app store. Today, the world's largest social network has announced their own! Called as the Facebook App Center, this will be the place where you want to look, install, and discover new apps on Facebook. Every app that you will find on the App Center will have an app detail page, so that you will get a glimpse on what the app is for and what it does before you install it.

Google Chrome updated to 18.0.1025.162 - fixes that Facebook hang-up

Good! Google has finally fixed that Facebook glitch. I have been experiencing that, you know when Facebook hangs up after a while. I noticed that bug whenever I chat with my Facebook friends. After a while of doing so, the Facebook tab just freezes and I have to close the tab and re-open Facebook to continue chatting with my friends which, as expected, would freeze again after a few minutes. That does not happen when I use a different browser. This update specifically answers that bug. So, update your Chromes now by clicking through the settings button > About Google Chrome > and wait for it to download and install the update. You can also download the update manually here.

Facebook to acquire Instagram for $1 Billion

The name that was in the news when the company finally launched and made their popular photo editing and sharing application to the Android world is now in the news. Facebook has just announced that the social networking giant will acquire Instagram. The announcement was made first by Mark Zuckerberg himself on his Facebook Timeline and was subsequently reported via the site's official blog. The acquisition is reported to be at $1 billion which will be a mix of cold cash and an exchange of shares of stock.

Facebook for iPad updated now with Retina version

Facebook has launched or has updated the Facebook for iPad application which now supports or brings in some Retina display resolution loving on it. The update, version 4.11, is basically for the 3rd iteration of the iPad that sports an eye-popping display resolution. So what does this mean to owners of the New iPad? It means that photos and whatever are there in the application will now look sharper specially photos. There are other cool new features in the update too like, "the ability to sign out of chat while remaining in the app (so you can browse Facebook without letting people know you’re online). Notifications, which had an annoying habit of popping up even after you’d asked them not to, have been fixed." Unfortunately though, no support for Facebook Timeline on this update yet. 

Facebook Photos updated brings in high-reso photo and full screen viewing

Facebook has announced that there will be a better way for you to view photos on Facebook. This update brings in the ability for us to view photos at high-resolution quality. With that said photos are now 4x larger than before (as seen in the photo above). For those using the latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox, Facebook will now give you the ability to view the photos in full screen.

Facebook App for Windows Phone updated to 2.3 now available at the marketplace

Facebook for Windows Phone 2.3 is now available for download from the marketplace. The new updated version of the application brings in, according to the Windows Phone team, noticeable changes and improvements to the application like "Improved panorama and profile designs, better news feed performance and navigation, new filters, and much much more."

Facebook has updated their Android application which brings in a lot of cool stuff into the application. One of the important of these updates that you should be expecting from the app is the faster way to navigate anywhere and a faster notification alert which is now in real time. Also, the new application includes a new push notification. According to Android Community, reports said that the new application also improved in memory management and efficiency. So for those who has an Android, update your Facebook apps now. You can also download it directly from the Android Market.

Facebook officially releases to beta Facebook Messenger for Windows

Facebook has released to public beta Messenger for Windows. For those who are running on Windows can now download and try out what Facebook is bringing us here. The application was made for us to be able to chat, post statuses, check notifications, messages, and friend request even if you are not logged into Facebook.com. I am currently running the application now and it looks like that whole part of your Facebook on the right part where the ticker and friends who are online are listed. The application, again, is still on it's beta phase and should not be that perfect yet, as I experienced while using it and roaming around with it. Facebook rolls out to the world the Facebook Timeline!

Good news and bad news! Good news for those who are waiting, excited, and who likes the Facebook Timeline and bad for those who does not like the new Facebook profile. The largest social network is now rolling out to all their users the new Facebook Profile more known as the Timeline. The Timeline was already rolled to some users across the world, the time when Facebook announced that New Zealanders will first get it.

Facebook for Android gets an update - faster with a new revamped UI

Facebook has released an update to their Facebook for Android app. The update brings in a newly revamped UI of the application and is expected to work faster and allow users to easily view photos, get messages, and navigate around the app.

Facebook announces roll out of Timeline in New Zealand

Yup! Facebook announced that the Facebook Timeline is now being rolled out to profiles in New Zealand but as what you can see in the photo above, that is my Facebook profile already wearing Timeline. Well, it seems that Facebook is not only rolling it out specifically in New Zealand then because I am not in New Zealand. Anyway, my profile or Facebook for that matter does not have the developer beta just to get this so it made me conclude that Facebook is not only rolling it out in Nw Zealand. For those who have their profiles turned to Timeline already that's good news, well for those who like it, I have been hearing comments that they hate the Facebook Timeline, I think its cool.

Skype adds Facebook-to-Facebook call within your Skype application

Skype released Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows which brings in a new feature into your Skype application. The new feature will allow you to do video calls to your Facebook friends that are online. This is actually very great, because I was expecting this feature to be already available when Facebook announced their video calling service, which was announced to be powered by Skype.

Facebook officially launches Facebook for iPad application

This, I believe, is what most, if not all, iPad users are waiting for. Facebook has officially launched their own iPad application. Yup, you can now get it from the Facebook itself. To download the application simply head over to Facebook.com/mobile/ipad and from there you can download the application and start using it. Facebook to do a major overhaul on your profile by introducing the Timeline

Facebook introduces a new and a very overhauled Facebook profile, which they call as the Timeline. This was announced during Facebook F8 Conference and unfortunately, I was unable to watch it. Anyway, the Timeline will replace your old and boring Facebook profile. At least there is something Facebook did right here, agree?

Facebook overhaul - officially makes the ticker permanent, news feeds layout and more!

I promise, that inside this post, there will be no comparison between these new stuffs in Facebook and what Google+ has in their own site. I will just be talking about the new things you should and/or already have on your Facebook profiles and on your Facebook Homepage. Today, Facebook have pushed to all their users (if not, then most of their users) a new overhauled Facebook site. They overhauled the homepage (top news), photos on news feeds, and the ticker. Actually there are a lot more minute changes within Facebook.

Facebook announces the Subscribe button

Whenever Facebook announces something new coming to their site, I can never stop but compare it with Google+. In my own opinion, Facebook is becoming more like Google+ every time they push a new feature. Today, Facebook announced a new feature that should be in your Facebook profiles soon, I already have this but I have not really tried to discover it yet, it is called the "subscribe button".

Facebook releases an update to their Android App

Facebook have released an update to their Android App which, according to DroidLife, is an update that brings in a lot of sense and is a "pretty solid update". Facebook improves friends list

Facebook have announced that in due time, when this update finally gets into all Facebook profiles, a new and improved friends list is coming. They call it an improvement because creating and organizing your friend list is tedious and requires effort that bores you. The new friends list has new features like "Smart Lists" where Facebook automatically creates a list of your friends and you don't have to do anything.
