Research In Motion the company behind the BlackBerry brand will finally be launching their tablet challenger, the BlackBerry PlayBook, on the 14th of April in an exclusive invite-only event to be held in New York City. The device is actually available on pre-order over at Best Buy who will be selling the tablet with it's very competitive pricing. Office Depot, who was one of the very first stores to announce that they will be selling the PlayBook will start selling the tablet on the 19th of April.
So that's the invite to that New York event in April 14th. let me move on to the local scene.
Techie, reported that aside from the NYC event, BlackBerry in the Philippines will also be giving the Filipinos a chance to see and experience the PlayBook. On April 13th (Philippines time) the company will be hosting an event for the PlayBook.
"On April 13, 2011, we would like to give you the chance to experience the BlackBerry PlayBook up close and personal, a week ahead of its U.S. release."
That snippet, I believe, is the invite. But based on how it is stated I also firmly believe that this will not be a launching of the device. "give you the chance to experience" doesn't sound to be a launching to me. Nonetheless, BlackBerry will definitely be announcing the tablet device in the local scene on the 13th. Techie also says that they will be hopping from one Asian country to the next and fortunately the Philippines is the first. With regards to when the device will be launch in the country, I do not have any words yet.
Let us just wait for what BlackBerry has to say. Until then April 13th and 14th all we need to do is wait.
I have posted on TechPump's Facebook Page it's second poll question, if you have time please do vote! Thanks!
