Nokia announces Microsoft partnership - to manufacture Nokia phones running on WP7

Today, Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop, and Microsoft's CEO, Steve Ballmer, announced a partnership that is expected to push the Nokia brand even further. Nokia have chosen Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 as their platform for their future devices. In London, the two companies have announced this news. What I am thinking really is that I think the former Microsoft Exec chose WP7 because of you know, he worked their before. I was expecting for Nokia to really embrace Android but nevertheless, at least this is not a "burning platform" (Symbian).

"Nokia will adopt Windows Phone as its primary smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader."
"Nokia will help drive and define the future of Windows Phone. Nokia will contribute its expertise on hardware design, language support, and help bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies."
So, Nokia devices running on Windows Phone 7 it is. I hope that this will ultimately change the Finnish company's future. I am excited on how these Nokia phone will look like with Windows Phone 7 on them and not that very familiar and boring Symbian OS.
