Sprint has officially unveiled the QWERTY-packing, 4G LTE loving, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running, Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. I really can't say that this device is the successor to the original Photon 4G, because the two have pretty much the same specs. But anyway, the really main difference between the two is the fact that the Photon Q sports a sliding physical keyboard. This then, I should say will compete with Verizon's Motorola Droid (like the Droid 2). Anyway, Sprint said that pricing and availability of the device will be announced in the coming weeks. Head after the break to check out the specs of the Photon Q.
Asus has officially launched, in the Philippines, two new Android tablets. These are the Asus Transformer Pad Infinitiy (Photo: above) and the Pad 300 (Photo: after the break). Both run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and both were unveiled during MWC 2012. The big differences between the two are the CPUs and the kind of screen used. The Pad Infinity sports a 1.6GHz nVidia Tegra 3 processor and a 10.1" Full HD (1920x1200) Super IPS display. The Pad 300 on the other hand sports a 1.2GHz nVidia Tegra 3 processor and a 10.1 (1280x800) IPS display.
The Huawei Ascend P1, announced as the world's thinnest smartphone at 6.68mm at the device's thinnest part, is now avaialable for pre-order in the UK. Thank Clove UK for that who is pricing the device for £370.80 (VAT inclusive) unlocked. Clove notes that the device's availability is yet to be confirmed, but history tells us that when something goes on pre-order at Clove then it should be coming soon. UV, expects the device to be available in the UK by August and that's just around the corner. As a refresher, the Huawei Ascend P1 runs on Android 4.0 ICS and is powered by a 1.5GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor with a 4.3" Super AMOLED display.

HTC has officially said that the HTC Desire HD won't get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update siting user experience as the reason why it won't get the expected update. HTC said that they have factored in a lot in their decision and ultimately came to the point of user experience. As with any updates, OEMs test them to their devices and decide if it gets the update or not. Since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is a very advanced version of Android compared to 2.2 Froyo (which was the OS that the Desire HD ran when it was launched) that'd mean that the OS would then need more specs out from the hardware. HTC might not have said it explicitly but it is obvious that the user experience, if the update is pushed, will not make the phone better. Head after the break for HTC's explanation about their decision.

HTC has confirmed that the latest iteration of Google's Android OS will be coming to, for now, three of their smartphones. These smartphones are the HTC One X, One XL, and the One S. I have not heard anything yet from other smartphone makers, so kudos to HTC for this! Although the update is yet to roll out, they are still probably busy with the ICS update, a confirmation that an update is coming is good news. HTC did not give any specific date or time that they will start rolling out the update but sure enough, I will be blogging about it when it does happen. Head after the break to read HTC's announcement regarding about this.

T-Mobile USA has officially announced that in the "coming weeks" they will be launching the Samsung Galaxy Note for a still to be disclosed price. Personally, I think T-Mobile is too late for this announcement, I mean come on, the device has been sold by AT&T and with rumors that the Galaxy Note 2's launching getting ever nearer, this I believe is not a very good move for the carrier. But anyhow, this device will be the same as the international version of the Galaxy Note but it will be running on Android 4.0 ICS with Premium Suite right out from the box. Head over the break to read T-Mobile's official presser.
